Pinot Noir - 2022 - Valentin Desloges
Les Quatre Piliers
Highly expressive nose of fresh cherry, followed by almost candied black cherry, blackberry, a hint of spice, and a subtle touch of leather. The palate is harmonious, with a fluid attack, smooth texture, and fine tannins promising good aging potential. Decanting recommended.

100% Pinot Noir from 20-year-old vines farmed organically, planted on a half-hectare plot with flinty limestone soils (the same terroir then the Chapitre I cuvée). Manual harvest. Vinification: 80% destememd, maceration for 12 days without forcing the extraction, gentle pressing, followed by one year of aging in barrels (crafted from the own oaks of the estate), with 25% new oak. Bottled in November 2023 with minimal sulfur, then bottle-aged in the estate’s cellars until release.

After high-school in Amboise and a BTS viti-oeno in Bordeaux, Valentin participated in the vinification of Château Mangot, then left in 2015 for 6 months in New Zealand, where he deepened his comprehension of Sauvignon.
