Rhône Valley
Petit Ours Blanc - 2022 - Matthieu Barret
Domaine du Coulet
A very expressive and floral nose, with notes of apricot and dried fruit. The palate is bold yet smooth, well-balanced, and mineralesque, with fine bitter notes. A beautiful success, a wine to (re)discover!

A blended cuvée: 70% Roussanne and 30% Marsanne, made from biodynamic vines, not certified. From the terroirs Crest in Drôme at 400 meters altitude. The grapes are harvested just before fully ripe to obtain a sharp and mineral wine – essentially the opposite of the style of wine we typically expect from these two very aromatic grape varieties. Matured in egg-shaped vats. Neither fined nor filtered, with just a microdose of sulphur.
Matthieu Barret
Matthieu Barret has been making wine at Domaine du Coulet since 1998. It was Stéphane Tissot , one of Jura's most famous vignerons, who first gave Barret the nickname "Petit Ours Brun" (little brown bear), and it quickly caught on among his vigneron peers, and even found its way onto his wine labels, such as his red and white cuvées Petit Ours Brun and Petit Ours Blanc.
