Philippe Wies

Philippe and Céline Wies set sail to leave behind a life full of pressures, and where the winds finally carried them was Maury. In 2007, they acquired this estate composed of 8.5 contiguous hectares. One great isolated parcel of wind-swept vines, an island of marine fragrances within the continent... a site special enough to convince Philippe to return to dry land for good. Soon they acquired an additional 4 hectares next to the others. Together, they represent the highest altitude vineyard in the Maury appellation... which means greater the freshness and ventilation, and all the better to keep an eye fixed on the sea, which sits on the horizon 20 km away. As for vinification, Philippe had a difficult time of it, never really feeling comfortable with the methods he’d been advised to use. And so, like any good sailor, he re-invented himself, seeking the right trim for his sails... Today, the estate has found its cruising speed, producing the most superb juice every year – natural and full of freshness.
