A natural cuvée with great purity. Nose: blackcurrant, raspberry, plum, light earthy notes and mineral finish. The palate is fluide and digestable, feels like a carbonic maceration, a glou glou wine which still manages to have a nice structure.
Joan Ramon Escoda
Joan Ramon Escoda and Maria Carmen Sanahuja form the incredible duo behind Celler Escoda-Sanahuja. A mythic couple in natural Catalan wine, they’ve been farming their grapevines organically since 1997, when they took over Maria’s family estate. In 2003 they converted to biodynamic, and in 2007, they banned the use of sulphur entirely. Located in the Coca de Barbera appellation, today they manage more than 10 ha of land, on which they’ve created a harmonious blend of vineyards, produce gardens, livestock, olive groves and almond trees. It’s a veritable miniature paradise that is also home to the magnificent restaurant Tossal Gros – tested and approved! At once a legend and a trailblazer, and a close friend of Laureano Serres, Joan Ramon is also the creator of the H20 Vegetal wine fair, where sulphur-free winemakers gather together every summer. There are no words to adequately honour this great bon vivant and lover of celebrations – he’s a man as generous, lively and joyful as his wines!
