On the nose, notes of Morello cherry, spices and underwood. The palate is round and silky juice, fleshy and powerful, balanced by lovely acidity, which makes for an extremely drinkable wine, and which promises it a fine aging.
Julien Altaber
Julien Altaber is a well-known name among natural Burgundy wines. And with good reason, the man has already proven himself. Originally from Auvergne and the son of a dairy farmer, nothing predestined him for the vine. His life took another turn during his studies at a business school specialized in wine. He did not have a true passion for marketing, Julien actually wanted to become a winegrower and buy vines in Burgundy. Unfortunately this was not an easy task, as prices were already sky-high at the time. He then met Dominique Derain, the iconic St Aubin winemaker and a colorful character, and became his cellar assistant, staying with him for almost 10 years. Over time, Julien found a few micro-parcels, purchased organic grapes, and founded Domaine Sextant. He bought a cellar in 2013, and since 2016, Carole and Julien Altaber have bought Dominique's estate and continue to vinify and distribute the cuvées under the Domaine Derain name. A beautiful transmission.
