Stella Di Campalto
Stella di Campalto is one of Tuscany's most respected and admired winemakers. Her wines are a model for the Brunello di Montalcino appellation, and the winemaker life is almost a gift from heaven for Stella, a far cry from her former life in Milan. She arrived at Podere San Giuseppe in 1992, a family estate and farm that had fallen into disrepair almost 40 years earlier. The adventure of a lifetime began, and Stella never left this Montalcino estate, surrounded by centuries-old forests and olive groves. She plated Sangiovese (only), obtained organic certification in 1996, and has been practicing biodynamics since 2002, pampering the vines to the extreme. During vinification, the same attention is paid to the juices, with work by gravity in a three-level cellar, and very long aging in barrels and bottles in an underground cellar. These are always exceptional tastings, and di Campalto’s wines shine throughout the world.
