Victor Cossy

Victor Cossy, child of the 1981 vintage, is the man behind Fermenterre, a small 3.22-hectare vineyard in Maisdon-sur-Sèvre, Muscadet. After a stint in advertising in Paris until 2005, he switched gears to become a carpenter, then an industrial designer, even training others for nearly a decade. Talk about a jack-of-all-trades! In 2017, Victor dipped his toes into the wine world, spending a year with Benoit Chéreau where he developed a taste for Muscadet. The journey began: he bought 0.16 hectares of Gamay and 0.1 hectares of Melon to test the waters. His mission? To breathe life back into the soil! Victor’s passion and thirst for knowledge are insatiable. He delights in converting conventional plots to organic to observe the transformation, and he even dabbles in geobiology and electroculture experiments. Our man is an astute observer of his terroir and wines, yet his winemaker's touch is undeniable: expect mineral, precise, and complex cuvées.
