A nose with notes of sour cherries, redcurrant jelly, and flowers... The palate is delicate, elegant, and fruity, with lovely acidity – beware Le Bastard goes down terribly easy!
100% Trousseau – specifically the "Trousseau à la dame" variety – from parcel of about 20-year-old vines planted by massal selection, with soils of schisty marl, at the vineyard sites known as "Aux Loges" and "Aux Barbis", facing southwest. The grapes are harvested by hand, followed by natural vinification: 30% of whole clusters, gentle maceration and pressing, and 10 months of maturation in oak casks that have seen several wines. Bottled at the Estate with sulfites used only sparingly.
Marin Fumey, a young purebred Jura winegrower, has always bathed in Vin Jaune! His parents Adeline and Raphaël founded the estate in 1986 with only 56 acres of vines. While it remains a family affair, today Fumey-Chatelain totals sixteen hectares of vines in the process of being converted to organics.
