Loire Valley
Calligramme - 2020 - Eric Nicolas
Domaine de Bellivière
A complex nose, with notes of honeyed white fruit, candied orange, dried fruit, and a hint of minerality. Palate: as the label suggests, this is poetic stuff indeed. This is a dry wine in 2020, with 4 grams of residual sugar/litre, is a true delicacy, with a finish that lingers on for an eternity.

100% Chenin, from vines that are over 70 years old, farmed biodynamically and planted on slopes overlooking the Loir, facing south/southwest. The wine is a blend of 10 parcels in the communes of Lhomme and Ruillé-sur-Loir (1.7 ha in total), with soils of flinty clay over tufa stone. Harvesting is done by hand with crates. Vinification: after pneumatic pressing and natural cold settling, the wine ferments with indigenous yeasts, then matures on its fine lees in barrels for 21 months. Bottled at the estate in July 2022 with a small dose of sulphur.
