Loire Valley
L'Effraie - 2022 - Clément and Laure-Anne Nicolas
Domaine de Bellivière
A sweet juice, with a nose of apricot, yellow peach, juicy pear, passion fruit, and white flowers... The palate is simply incredible, the balance between the fine acidity and the 18 grams of residual sugar/litre is masterful – one of our great favourites.

100% Chenin, from 10- to 30-year-old vines cultivated biodynamically, and planted on 11 parcels (3.5 hectares in total) spread over the communes of Chahaignes and Marçon, thus the southern slopes of the Loir, with flinty clay soils over tufa stone. Harvesting is done by hand with crates. Vinification: after pneumatic pressing and natural cold settling, the wine ferments with indigenous yeasts, then matures on its fine lees in barrels for 12 months. Bottled at the estate in November 2023 with a small dose of sulphur.
Clément and Laure-Anne Nicolas
Clément Nicolas and his wife Laure-Anne took over the reins of Domaine de Bellivière in a smooth transition in 2021, after Clément had joined his parents, Eric and Christine Nicolas, at the estate in 2015. Founded in 1995, the Domaine has become a Loire Valley benchmark, especially for its Jasnières and Coteaux-du-Loir—two underappreciated appellations that the family elevated to excellence...
