Le Magny - 2022 - Philippe Chevarin
Philippe Chevarin
A fruity nose with subtle smoky notes. Palate: elegant, unctuous, well balanced and well structured with fine tannins. A beautiful wine for discovering this ancient grape variety.

A 100% Gamay Magny cuvée, made from vines planted in the 1950s on schist soils and farmed organically. Gamay Magny, an ancient grape variety which gives small bunches of small grapes, was nearly lost to phylloxera in the 19th century. Low yields. The grapes are handpicked with small crates. Vinification: the grapes are destemmed, followed by three weeks of maceration, gentle pressing to preserve the fruit, and maturation in vats for 6 months. Bottled at the Estate mid-March 2023. Neither fined nor filtered, just a micro-dose of sulphur.
