Vitae - 2018 - Fred Niger
Domaine de l'Ecu
Prepare yourself for love at first sip! A nose with notes of small red berries and maquis, with a touch of minerality. Palate: this is serious, structured juice, crafted for food pairings. A pure pleasure cuvée, which will only grow in potential after a rest in the cellar.

70% Cabernet Sauvignon and 30% Cabernet Franc from vines cultivated biodynamically (certified by Demeter and Biodyvin) and planted on Gneiss and Orthogneiss subsoils, facing southeast, covering a total surface of 0.8 ha. Harvested by hand, this cuvée was vinified by Claire Niger: the Cabernet Sauvignon is destemmed by hand followed by 8 months of maceration on the skins in amphorae, while the Cabernet Franc has a short maceration the followed by one year of maturation in amphorae. Blended before bottling, without fining, filtration or added sulphites.
Fred Niger
Fred bought Domaine de l'Écu in 2010, with its perfect soils cultivated organically since 1972, then certified biodynamic by DEMETER in 1998. He’s been collaborating with Guy Bossard since 2014, the master of Muscadet. The pairing is simply miraculous. Fred, a novice at winegrowing but an unparalleled taster, knows exactly what he wants and what he intends to do for wine in the Muscadet....
