Quinta Do Noval is for Ports what Romanée Conti is for Burgundy: a Myth. A splendid sloping terroir; cest varietals are planted here, adapted area by area, in order to obtain the quintessence of this vineyard lay out in terraces. This vineyard is based in Pinhao, 130 km away from Porto, in the hinterland, one of the most efficient sectors of the Douro valley. There are many grape varieties there: Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinta Roriz, Tinto Cao, Tinta Barroca, Tinta Francisca, Sousao. Here, maturity and sweetness are reaching unprecedented levels all over the country. Some cuvées from the domain reach record heights at auctions, especially the most famous cuvée of the domain: “Nacional Vintage”. A small parcel of ungrafted vines, the most amazing and rarest Port. In short, an exceptional terroir with a result that sometimes is close to magic.
