Saint Amour - 2021 - Alexandra de Vazeilles

Château des Bachelards

An appellation we don't often find in our glasses, yet this cuvée thrilled us with its floral framework. Violet and peony are enhanced by notes of blackberry and a hint of blood orange. Palate: very beautiful texture and mouthfeel, elegant, luscious and silky.

100% Gamay from biodynamically-grown vines, planted halfway up the hill, on South-facing parcels that show deep and granitic soils, with veins of loess and clay. Natural vinification, in a way that is not traditional from Beaujolais, since it started with a full destemming. 28 days of maceration in concrete vats, gentle pressing, 18 months of aging in casks and demi-muids. Bottled at the Château without fining or filtration, sulfites are used only sparingly.
