A nose of white fruits, candied fruits, dried apricot, and quince paste... Juicy, fresh and light on the palate, with zero heaviness, and lovely mineral and bitter notes on the finish which balance the whole.
Dominique Lucas
Dominique Lucas, an unassuming, perfectionist natural winemaker whose estate overlooks Lac Léman, cultivates 8 hectares of vines in Bas-Chablais. Dominique first had a brilliant career as vineyard manager in Beaune and Vosne-Romanée, where he pampered some of Burgundy’s most mythic parcels. But the economic pressure he felt bearing down on him and each of his vines finally led him to seek a living elsewhere. For such pressure rarely allows one to accept any loss of yields; therefore, when climatic conditions become complicated, you’re forced to use a chemical treatment... yet Dominique had become so committed to these vines he cultivated biodynamically, that in 2008 he finally slammed the door on Burgundy. That same year, the opportunity emerged to take over 1 hectare of Chasselas in the Haute-Savoie, which would constitute the founding of his estate. His ploughing is entrusted to horses, and caring for the soils, grass and weeds is left to sheep.
