A nose with notes of white fruits, acacia, linden, and a touch of candied pear... Palate: great volume and freshness, a perfectly balanced wine, the acidity adding just the right amount of tension, plus a long, slightly mineral finish with a hint of salt at the end.
Jean-Christophe Garnier
Jean-Christophe Garnier produces a short range of wines which can reset you palate in a sip. A rich Chenin, full bodied, open, stony, powerful... A Cabernet Franc that’s juicy, fruity and gourmand. And – considering the quality of the wines, and the commitment and sacrifice of this fine fellow – all at ridiculously low prices! There, we said it. Trained by the Parcé brothers in Banyuls, then by Mark Angeli in Anjou, this former sommelier settled in Saint-Lambert-du-Lattay in 2002 with a clear vision in mind: to make natural wine. He began with only a handful of vines and few resources, but had help from his father who had retired the same year. Jean-Christophe has come a long way since, and with experience under the belt, the quality of his wines is now striking. In a major wine region like Anjou with legions of producers, it’s often difficult to stand out from the masses. And yet, that’s precisely what he’s done. Now even the venerable Chenin-master Richard Leroy has taken to quoting the man!
