A complex nose of morello cherry, musk, undergrowth, and white pepper... Palate: beautiful tannic structure, and fine balance between power and finesse! This audacious New World cuvée could easily compete with a number of great Burgundy Pinots!
Brendon Keys
Brendon Keys may have the look of an overgrown teenage skateboarder, but don’t be fooled – this is a vigneron to be taken seriously! Straight out of New Zealand, Brendon first developed his sensibility as a chef before falling into the barrel... or rather the cement egg – a vessel which he particularly values for the purity and richness it brings to his wines. After studying oenology back in Gisborne, this vino-loving hipster embarked on a world tour of wine apprenticeships, with notable stays in Argentina and California. It was finally in Australia’s Adelaide Hills, and more specifically in Basket Range, that Brendon and his wife Kirsty decided to settle and found their winery. The adventure of BK Wines began in 2007, and the precision of the couple’s work has since become increasingly refined. With each inspired decision, the Keys have developed what is today an exemplary, zero-concession approach to winemaking. Cheers to skater wine!
A nose almost evocative of a Nuits-Saint-Georges with notes of strawberry jam, smoke, leather, and mahogany... Palate: a magnificent balance between power and elegance, vivaciousness and softness. As Brendon describes it, “Remy is an expressive cuvée, and is capable of solving the deepest problems...” Worth a try then! Decanting recommended.
Nose: a slice of buttered brioche and nectarine jam, with hints of candied lemon... It’s like one of Proust’s petites madeleines! Rich and creamy on the palate, a powerful juice, with a lively finish enhanced by a touch of acidity.
A complex nose of plums, black olives, coffee, and fresh tobacco... Palate: structured and generous, with beautiful texture. A wine that you can put in the cellar and forget about for a few years, but if you don't have the patience, decanting is recommended!
An intense, deep nose with notes of candy, violet, and white pepper... A palate that’s structured and balanced, with beautiful tannins, and a long finish full of jammy fruits.
The slightly warmer 2019 vintage yielded a juice full of sunshine, with a nose boasting notes of black tea and cumin, and a hint of flowers... On the palate, we find vibrant fruit flavours and a velvety tannic structure, balanced by refreshing acidity. One of our favourites.
A nose that evolves beautifully in the glass – undergrowth, spices, lavender, and aniseed… it ticks all the boxes of a traditional Burgundy, yet with an extra touch of exoticism that is typical of BK Wines. The palate is concentrated and elegant, with fine bitter notes on the finish.
A complex, luscious nose – imagine a blackberry pie served with ice cream and sprinkled with Chinese five-spice powder and white pepper. Palate: a wine boasting a chalky tannic structure, and a long finish with fine bitter notes.
Australian Pinot! With notes of cranberry, red cherry, candied orange peels and negroni... On the palate: supple and well-blended tannins, good acidity, this wine evolves in the most lovely way. A surprisingly serious wine that will delight lovers of Pinot Noir!
A light-coloured robe and a deep, complex nose: pine, forest floor, mushrooms, and a touch of sherry. The palate has structure and great length, with notes of maple leaves and cocoa, and a touch of salinity on the finish. A dynamic wine with perfectly integrated tannins.
A wine that always elicits a "wow" upon opening – a powerful nose with notes of violet, amarena cherry, wild herbs, and maquis... Taste it blind, and one would almost think it was Italian! Supple and suave on the palate, lovely texture, and a long, velvety finish. One of our favourites.
Pur Jus exclusivity, with notes of gooseberry and red plum, über-fruity cuvée with a whole clusters feeling, dynamic palate with length, fluidity and crisp tannins. What do you expect, it’s a Pur Jus! The label was created by Russ Pope, the American artist behind our posters.
A slightly oxidative nose with notes of cashew nuts, juniper berries and a hint of floral aromas. The palate is fresh and rounded, with a slender body and a long, white fruit finish. Gin Gin also rhymes with Tchin Tchin – ‘Cheers’ in French!
A concentrated nose of dark berries and cherry pit, with a touch of cinnamon and bitter Aperol liqueur! Palate: smooth and supple, with bright fruit flavours, velvety tannins, and a hint of blood orange on the finish. Still young, yet already showing huge potential. Our perennial favourite!
A rich nose with notes of white flowers, lemon and pear. Palate: a clean attack, lovely acidity, pure fruit flavours such as white peach, and a long, luscious finish. A period of maceration gives the wine lovely depth and light tannins, perfectly complimenting the variety’s rich aromatics.
An extremely elegant vintage – it may be a natural sparkling pét-nat, but this wine could pass for a fine blanc de blancs Champagne, with lovely, delicate, well-balanced fruit aromas, and notes of flowers, biscuits, pear, and citron... This is what we’ll be sipping when sunny days return!
