Strong and very fragrant nose on notes of exotic fruits, honeysuckle, acacia and orange zests. Fresh and smooth palate. A turbid wine, to leave to rest vertically in the fridge for 24 hours before tasting, so as to let the lees settle. A disconcerting cuvée with a sublime nose.
Osamu Uchida
Osamu Uchida, born of the 1977 vintage, grew up in Hiroshima but was educated in French culture from a very young age – his parents were wine merchants! He was barely in his twenties when he decided to head off to the land of Molière to immerse himself in French language… and wine! By the end of his first stay, it was the welcome he’d received from the many vignerons he visited that convinced him to return for another course of study – viticulture and oenology. After a training course in Vayres, Uchida participated in internships in natural winemaking at several estates from Savoie to Côte-Rôtie to Banyuls. After initially returning to Japan to work for an importer, the desire to make his own wine in France finally got the better of him. His colleagues in natural wine would suggest several regions for launching his estate – but above all, anywhere but Bordeaux! And so, naturally, in 2015 Osamu settled in… Pauillac! “I wanted to challenge myself and do something atypical,” he recalls. Well, you've done it Osamu!
