Nathalie et Gérard Courrèges
Nathalie and Gérard Courrèges, brother and sister, are the heads of Domaine de Vaccelli, located in Cognocoli-Monticchi, in the very south of Corsica’s Ajaccio appellation. The estate’s creation dates back to 1962, when the Courrèges family bought about thirty hectares here following the Algerian War of Independence. While Alain, Gérard and Nathalie’s father, was a self-taught winemaker, Gérard trained as an oenologist in Nîmes before returning to the estate in 2000, and since then hasn’t ceased to strengthen his winemaking talents. It seems everything has evolved in the right direction: the switch to organic farming in 2008, the replanting of indigenous grape varieties, the separation of parcels with the utmost precision... Today, Vaccelli is far from being a “small estate on the rise” – on the contrary, its reputation is now well established, representing the cutting edge of Corsican viticulture. And in the bottle? Wines of character, maturity, and unbelievable balance... Don’t say we didn’t tell you!
