During fermentation, the grapes smelled like a Marrakech spice market... Hence the name for this cuvée which does take you on a voyage! Even better from the bottle, it bursts with rose, red fruits, and notes of cinnamon and anise. Decanting is mandatory !
Lolita Sene
Lolita Sene, child of the 1987 vintage, began her career at the age of 21 in Paris as the artistic director of a nightclub. She then left the nightlife behind to work for three years at a wine shop, before returning to school to study agronomy. Next, she wrote for the travel guide Le Petit Futé, traveling to Canada and the United States. Settling in Vancouver, she began working as a sommelier. But as her passion for wine grew, so did a sense that she was only scratching the surface of its mysteries. Finally, it was when an old friend moved to the Bugey to set up her own estate that Lolita realised that she too wanted to be a vigneronne! Moving back to France, she acquired 0.97 ares of Grenache, Syrah and Cinsault vines in Saint Victor La Coste (Rhône). She vinified her first vintage in 2018, learning everything on the job! “I learned how to make wine by reading Jules Chauvet's books and watching YouTube videos. I pruned my vines with a book on my knees!” Hats off to the artist... the result is stunning, and always delicious!
