Catharina Sadde

Catharina Sadde is the woman at the helm of Domaine Les Horées, founded in 2019. Born in Germany, she began her career as a cook, but after experiencing a grape harvest in the Nahe region of West Germany, decided to head down the vineyard path. She pursued a master's degree in viticulture and oenology at the University of Geisenheim. From 2010 to 2018, she took on a succession of internships and positions across Burgundy, from Domaine Chevrot, La Romanée Conti, to Joseph Drouhin, Domaine Compte de Vogüe, and Domaine Cécile Tremblay, before finally becoming vineyard manager at Domaine Marquis d'Angerville. Then in 2018, she got a chance to buy a parcel of Prévolles in Beaune, followed by several more in Volnay and Pommard, reaching a total of 1.3 ha. Founding her estate, she embraced the principles of biodynamics, working with minimalist precision in both vineyard and winery. Catharina gives "free rein to her intuition and her senses" – and it works!
