A nose of ripe fruit, blueberry, plum, cherry, and sweet spices, with a hint of sandalwood. Rather full bodied and powerful for this variety, this is a complex wine, without lacking smoothness and freshness – a very well balanced cuvée.
Sophie et Clément Maire-Kurdziel
Sophie and Clément Maire-Kurdziel, just in their early forties, are respectively from Moselle and Aveyron in France, and met at the university in Montpellier. Both became oenologists, they worked for large Estates in France and abroad, before returning to the Loire Valley. Being actually close to the field and the vineyards, they quickly realized the limits of chemistry, and became more interested by natural wines. To get a better idea of it, Clément trained as a vineyard worker, understanding organic viticulture. It was somewhat by chance that they found Les Justices plot, on a classified ads website! They harvested it for the first time in 2018, and are today at the head of a little less than 2 hectares. They also vinify with high-quality bought grapes, producing some of our favorite cuvées that we’ve tasted in 2021. In short, la Bamboche (one of their cuvées) - meaning “shindig” in french, is just getting started!
