Fourth vintage for this cuvée, all about precision, energy, confidence, and finesse. The palate is ripe and generous, carried by a mineral backbone with notes of candied orange, exotic fruits, brioche, and verbena, with a long finish. Decanting recommended before tasting.
Valentin Desloges
Valentin Desloges, child of the 1993 vintage, took the right decision by continuing the family line of winegrowers and founding Les Quatre Piliers estate. After high-school in Amboise and a BTS viti-oeno in Bordeaux, Valentin participated in the vinification of Château Mangot, then left in 2015 for 6 months in New Zealand, where he deepened his comprehension of Sauvignon. Back in France, Valentin worked in Burgundy, notably the prestigious Paul Pillot in Chassagne-Montrachet and Coche-Dury in Meursault. It’s the opportunity to take over a superb vineyard that will sign his return to his Loire roots: ten hectares between Noyers and Saint-Aignan. He converted the estate to organic farming, and puts all of his energy into the vines. Rare enough to be highlighted, Valentin manufactures his custom-made barrels in collaboration with François Frères, using oak from the estate that he dries himself! First vintage in 2020, and already top-notch juices. A winemaker to follow very closely.
