A fruity Cabernet Franc, typical of Anjou, with notes of very fresh red berries and fresh herbs. The tannins have softened a little in bottle, perfect pleasure wine, bright and cheerful.
Olivier Le Beau
Olivier Le Beau, a child from the 1977 vintage, founded Le Beau Domaine (i.e. The Beautiful Estate) in 2017 in Saint-Jean-des-Mauvrets, south of Angers. Having grown up in the region, he worked for the Mosse family for a season in 2000, when they started making wine. It was then at Domaine de Rochambeau that he discovered a real interest in the vine and its natural cycle, a major revelation that prompted him to abandon his career in animation and take his vine-growing diploma in 2005. After graduating, Olivier worked for 14 years at Domaine de Bablut. He found his own vines in 2017 and began vinifying his own cuvées: just 200 bottles the first year, and a "real first vintage" in 2018 with 900 square meters of Cabernet Franc in production. He planted 400 square meters of Chenin in 2019, and today cultivates just 1.6 ha organically, with a gardener's approach. Behind his little glasses and a few jokes, Olivier is a talented and humble winemaker, a true artisan of wine whose cuvées blew us away during the tasting.
