On notes of blackberry, blueberry and pepper, with a floral profile characteristic of the estate, the palate is long, complex and dense, with velvety, well-integrated tannins. We're big fans.
Alexandra de Vazeilles
Alexandra de Vazeilles is the director of Château des Bachelards, a lively winemaker from the Beaujolais scenery. After spending 15 years of her life in the United-States, and obtaining a degree in viticulture and oenology, she went off to learn from the very best: Château Latour, Domaine de Montille, Domaine Roulot. When she acquired the Château des Bachelards in 2014, she broke with the region's rules creating wines that look like her and which (necessarily!) broke the rules too: following biodynamic principles, without carbonic maceration, with long maturation periods, timeless vintages built to withstand the test of time. Alexandra's work takes its full meaning from the history of the estate, founded by the Benedictine monks of the Cluny Abbey: she transcribes in her bottles the spiritual dimension between Man and Earth, and each vintage is a tribute to the granitic terroir of Fleurie, magnified by the talent and passion of the Comtesse de Vazeilles.
