100% Pinot Noir from vines situated a few metres above Clos des Lambrays and planted on a thin soil of limestone and clay. The grapes are harvested by hand, and early historically compared to other estates, between the 25th of August and the 3rd of September, with yields of 45 hl/hectare. Vinification: the grapes are destemmed, with slightly longer than usual alcoholic fermentation, gentle pressing, and 14 months of maturation in barrels that have seen several wines. Bottled at the estate in mid-January 2020.
Boris Champy
Boris Champy, a child of the 1974 vintage, is at the helm of his eponymous estate in Nantoux, in the Hautes-Côtes-de-Beaune region. The winemaker's background is nothing short of admirable: originally from the Champagne region, he worked in Napa Valley for 10 years before becoming technical director of Louis Latour and then manager of Clos des Lambrays for many years.
