Spätburgunder - 2018 - Bianka et Daniel Schmitt
Weingut Schmitt
An ultra-complex nose of cranberry, strawberry, plum, vanilla, and a touch of oak. The palate is lightly tannic yet intensely aromatic, with notes of cinnamon, undergrowth, and a hint of lavender, leading to a long finish of black cherry. The structure remains light and fluid—unexpected after such an expressive nose!

A true expression of Spätburgunder, the German name for Pinot Noir. The vines are farmed biodynamically and hand-harvested with controlled yields. Natural winemaking with no additives: six weeks of spontaneous fermentation using native yeasts, gentle punchdowns and pumpovers to avoid drying out the cap, soft pressing to preserve the fruit. One year of aging in used barrels. Bottled without fining or filtration, no added sulfites.
