Languedoc
Blanc - 2021 - Didier Barral
Domaine Léon Barral
What a knockout! Every vintage, this Blanc (which is actually more of an orange wine) delights us with its notes of citrus, candied orange, honey, apricot, pear, and garrigue, with exceptional minerality. The palate is equally complex, powerful, structured, with a beautiful, long finish.

80% Terret, 10% Viognier and 10% Roussanne, from vines planted on schist soils, biodynamically grown and chemical-free for 30 years. Didier's green capital is entirely managed by his cows, the winemaker's other great passion... Hand-harvested in small crates and low yields. Natural winemaking: skin-contact wine, slow pressing in the old vertical wooden press, no settling, fermentation in concrete vats, aged for 8 months in vats, then 12 months in old barrels. Only a micro-dose of sulfur at bottling.

From the beginning of his career he was sensitive to biodynamics and biodiversity in general. But his estate is vast – 35 hectares – so Didier had to find solutions to be able to naturally fertilise his soil, manage weeds and grasses, etc. So...
