Rouge Clair - 2022 - Kohki Iwata
WA Sud
A delicate balance between a very light red and a dark rosé... The nose is fruity and floral, with notes of grenadine, strawberry, and blackcurrant. The palate is smooth and easy-drinking. Serve chilled, making it perfect for an aperitif alongside some charcuterie.

blend: 60% Merlot from 30-year-old vines and 40% Chenin from 10-year-old vines, organically farmed on clay-limestone soils in the Saint Chinian appellation. Hand-harvested with natural winemaking: total destemming, direct pressing for the Chenin, and a 3-day maceration for the Merlot, from which Kohki performs a "saignée", only recovering the free-run juice. Blended and aged for 18 months in barrels without new oak, bottled at the estate without fining or filtration, with just a micro-dose of sulfur.
