Cito - 2022 - Fred Niger
Domaine de l'Ecu
Nose of citrus, candied lemon, orange peel, white fruit, orange blossom. Sharp, crisp attack. A dry, taut, fresh, tonic Chenin with little tannin despite maceration. Deep and delicate, with chiselled fruit, soft spices, eau-de-vie-soaked plum, and chamomile infusion.

100% Chenin from biodynamically farmed vines, planted via massal selection on an orthogneiss subsoil, southeast-facing. Hand-harvested, grapes received by gravity, natural vinification with native yeasts, full destemming, an incredible 12-month maceration in amphorae, pressing, then bottled at the Domaine. Unfined, unfiltered, micro-dose of sulfur at bottling, in line with the biodynamic calendar.

Fred Niger
Fred bought Domaine de l'Écu in 2010, with its perfect soils cultivated organically since 1972, then certified biodynamic by DEMETER in 1998. He’s been collaborating with Guy Bossard since 2014, the master of Muscadet. The pairing is simply miraculous. Fred, a novice at winegrowing but an unparalleled taster, knows exactly what he wants and what he intends to do for wine in the Muscadet....
