Les Gravières - 2023 - Charlotte and Aurélien Houillon
Domaine Houillon
A very fresh, immediate wine, already ready to drink, showcasing crushed strawberry and redcurrant jelly. On the palate, the Carignan takes the lead, offering a digestible, fluid, and highly fruity mouthfeel, while the Grenache adds just the right depth. Balanced and delicious.

Half Grenache Noir and half Carignan, from old vines grown organically on a plot that was flooded during the 1992 floods: although the vines were saved, the soil remained silty, leading to the plot being renamed Gravières, after the small pebbles, or "graviers," in French. Manual harvesting and natural winemaking: total destemming, co-fermentation of the two grape varieties, maceration for 5 weeks, followed by 8 months of aging in stainless steel tanks. Bottled at the estate in April 2024, without fining or filtration, zero added sulfur.
