Vignes Noires - 2018 et 2019 - Maya Sallée et Nicolas Fernandez
Domaine La Calmette
A few words from Maya and Nicolas: "A crystalline, lithe, complex wine. Aromas of black fruits complimented by oxidative notes due to the prolonged maturation. Very little oakiness, but beautiful notes of soy sauce, broth and spices. A delicate palate with lovely length." We are fans!

100% Malbec, a blend of the 2018 and 2019 vintages, from 20-year-old vines in conversion to organic farming, planted on a 0.8-ha plot with clay-limestone soils, on a steep east-facing slope. The grapes are harvested by hand with crates, then transferred to vats by gravity, followed by gentle maceration with indigenous yeasts, and respectively two and three years of maturation in barrels that have seen two to three wines. Bottled at the estate on September 10th 2021 without fining or filtration, and just a microdose of sulphur (1 gr/hl).
